FRIDAY!

Wow the days are full!
Friday we started our day with a stop at our Nescafe' stand.  As we walked up the young lady mixing the coffee, looked up at us held up 2 fingers and asked "same?".  Gotta love it!
We had orientation at our place.  Scott was so helpful and encouraging to us both.  He has been teaching for 6 years, I believe.  His tips and observations were insightful.  We begin teaching on Monday.  We teach level 1 English and have classes from 7am-9am and 1pm-3pm.  We work with a curiculum that the school has developed and put together.  Basically we work on 10 new words a day, a new sound and exercises out of the workbook.  We had a good sense of how our students might feel, last evening.  We attended church and it was mostly in Thai.  The Harp family walked us to school; and we made our way back!  It is about a 15 minute walk.  Let's go....Out the front door of  The Inn, take a left, watch your step!  We pass vendors, beggars and throngs of people about as we ascend the 23 stairs straight up to the overpass.  As we walk along the overpass the sea of vehicles is beyond comprehension.  The neon-colored taxis make up 50% of vehicles owned in this area.  The buses are lined up one after another.  Apparently the government in the last while started operating free buses.  They are packed!  Once across the overpass we descend the stairs.  About the time you think you might overheat, you pass through an airconditioned mall that is selling every imaginable cell phone out there.  That is a welcome reprieve from the hot humid air.   It is only slightly tricky to cross the intersections, there is no such thing as pedestrians having the right of way.  Not only do the motorcycles use the roadway, they also help themselves to the sidewalk!  There are welcome patches of green in front of an outdoor restaurant; and a tree up ahead is in bloom, beautiful purple flowers.  We arrive, invigorated and steaming.  Thus will be our journey for the next 15 days!  Thanks for coming along. : )
The journey has been a wonderful one thus far.  We love to hear from you, and thank you for visiting the blog and keeping us in your prayers.
